About the Artist
Fort Collins based artist Mark Olenick has been honing his pastel and oil painting skills for the last few years. Running a machine shop by day, he turned his off-time attention to creating visual art steeped in fantasy. Merging Colorado’s grand landscapes with elements of traditional fantasy lends itself to fantastic and mythological storytelling. What if the Mummy Range was an actual mummy? What if the Black Canyon of the Gunnison was home to a flight of dragons, weaving through the canyons?
As a former military officer that transitioned to manufacturing, Mark’s experiences lend a unique vision to his art. This journey, joined with a sense of imaginative realism based in the real world, shows through his work.
